Twelve framed Bible leaves: the measurements given are first the exposed portion of the leaf and second the dimensions of the frame. The framing has not left the verso of the leaves visible, nor has it allowed the full dimensions of the leaves to be seen.

1)  a handwritten manuscript leaf on vellum, in Latin:  c. 1250, probably Paris.   The text is in black, the rubrication in red, with the headline and chapter numbering in red and blue.  4 5/8” x 3 1/8” / 10 1/8” x 8 3/8”   $250.

(the matting is black, but the reflection shows the blue cloth against the background of which the picture is taken)

2)  a leaf (Ephesians 5: 18 – Philippians 1: 11) from the first printing of the Wycliffe New Testament: London: John March,  1731 (the text was taken from two early 15th century manuscripts; only 160 copies of this edition were printed: Herbert 1011): 13 1/4” x 8” / 18 ½” x 12 7/8”   Very scarce.  $500.

(the white spot at the bottom left is the result of a reflection due to sunlight, and does not represent any problem on the leaf)

3) SOLD a leaf (John 15: 1-11) from the 1552 Jugge printing of the Tyndale New Testament, with an illustrative woodcut at the top (and, also, with a large woodcut ‘I’ at the beginning of the chapter); Herbert 99.  7 ¼” x 5 ½”  / 12 7/8” x 10 3/8”  With underlining in red.  $450.

4)  a leaf  (Luke 12: 11 - 24) from a 1538 Coverdale English/ Latin diglot New Testament (Herbert 37, the first edition of this work):  7 1/8” x 5 1/8” / 12 3/8” 10 1/8”    $450.

9)  a leaf (John 19: 6 – 25) from the Roman Catholic translation of the NT, first printed at Rheims in 1582; this leaf was probably printed in the 1630's; it is badly stained.   7 3/8" x 5 3/8" / 12 3/8" x 10 3/8"  $50.

(Herbert 309).  14 7/8" x 9 ¾" / 20 1/8" x 14 5/8"  A nice leaf for a display item.   $250.

11)  a leaf (II Kings 20: 21- 21: 26) from a late 16th century German Lutheran Bible, possibly one printed in 1574 (as is indicated by the plate on the frame), but equally possibly not.   15 3/8" x 9" /  19 1/8" x 13 7/8"   $50.
